Project Description: Surveying, utility coordination, water main design, permitting, bidding and construction phase support services.

HSQ provided surveying, utility coordination, water main design, permitting, bidding and construction phase support services to Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department (MD-WASD).

MD-WASD is proposing to abandon the undersized 2” water mains and meters within the rear lots of an existing single family home community and install a new 8” D.I.P. water main along the frontage of these homes. There will also be installation of new water meters and fire hydrants within the public right-of-way areas.

During the field reconnaissance and utility verification for the project, the HSQ Design Team found that there was an existing 8” water main that had already been installed within a portion of the project limits. This existing water main had not been identified during the review of the as-built drawings that were provided by MD-WASD. After further investigation, it was confirmed that there had been an 8” water main installation in 2007 along Northwest 30th Avenue and Northwest 83rd Street under the county’s needs assessment program (No. GOB- UWMR-21 – GOB Site No.71162 – ER No. 16057). The HSQ Team also suggested to MD-WASD that the limits of the project be extended east along Northwest 84th Street in order to connect to an existing 12”D.I.P. water main that was identified outside the original limits of the project. HSQ provided the required additional surveying and engineering services to MD-WASD at no additional charge.

The approximate total length of new 8” water main installation is 4,700 linear feet.

Project Description: 

Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (MD-WASD) is proposing to abandon the corroded, undersized 4” water main that is servicing an existing residential community, along a portion of Northeast 72nd Street. The limits of this project are from the intersection at Biscayne Boulevard, east along Northeast 72nd Street, to the seawall adjacent to Biscayne Bay. MD-WASD is also proposing to install a new 8” D.I.P. watermain, within Northeast 72nd Street, along the frontage of these single family homes and install new water meters and fire hydrants within the public right-of-way areas.

HSQ has completed the route surveying for this project. It has been verified that there is only an existing 39’ right-of- way area within Northeast 72nd Street. Therefore, both the water main route analysis and utility coordination will be critical parts of this project. HSQ has recently worked on numerous projects within the urban centers of Miami-Dade County, including the City of Miami Downtown areas. Therefore, we are very experienced in the many challenges associated with the design of water main conflicts with other utilities within extremely confined construction areas.

The approximate total length of new 8” water main installation is 2,960 linear feet.

Municipal-UtilitieTamarac Storm Water Master Plan

Project Description: Municipal Utilities Project

 

HSQ Group prepared the storm water master plan for the City of Tamarac in 2015. The City consists of 12 square miles of land with multiple outfall and boundary conditions to take into account including property outside of the city limits contributing to the drainage system. The scope included review existing information and collection of data from as- builts, old models, GIS and field investigations, Coordination with city staff for future development needs and impacts, review existing city drainage codes and provide recommendation for code updates, review existing water quality conditions and NPDES criteria and provide recommendations to meet current regulations, review Broward County code requirements for drainage and FEMA criteria for design consideration, provide low impact development ideas (LID) improvements and specifications, convert existing information from NGVD to NAVD vertical datum, preparation of final master plan as a living document to update as needed in the future, update city GIS data base with master plan information.

Municipal-UtilitieCulvert Improvements – City of Tamarac

Location: Broward County, Florida

Client: City of Tamarac

Project Description: Municipal Utilities Project

HSQ Group designed and permitted five (5) separate drainage culvert locations throughout the City of Tamarac limits.  These improvements were required in order to increase the stormwater flow volumes and rates between the existing canals and lakes within the Tamarac master drainage system.  These locations had previously been experiencing drainage problems.  The improvements included adding additional 48” to 60” culverts under existing roadways to reduce upstream flooding within the system.  HSQ Group designed each culvert crossing and provided overall surface water management calculations using ICPR software.  The project was designed and permitted through the City of Tamarac on a 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% phase review process.  Both the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the Broward County Environmental Protection Division were also involved in the approval process.
